IT Project Manager

The individual contributor in this position will plan and manage complex IT projects consisting of one or more project teams. This person will manage relationships and act as a liaison between the development teams, client organizations, and other stakeholders throughout the project cycle. Responsibilities include overall coordination, status reporting and stability of multiple, cross-functional projects, management of project team and multiple outside vendors to ensure successful services delivery.


  • Provide database design and data modeling support as needed for specific project deliverables.

  • Contribute to ongoing data model improvements for the warehouse overall.

  • Develop application code for both data sourcing (ETL) and information delivery (OLAP, business intelligence and reporting tools).

  • Review business requirements and project initiation documents and convert to functional and/or technical specifications.

  • Assist warehouse production support team with problem resolution and root cause identification, for any run-time issues which may negatively affect day-to-day operational stability of the data warehouse.

  • Provide effective long-term, process-improvement oriented solutions to production support problems.

  • Coordinate with other data warehouse team members, business teams and/or external data providers to resolve production support issues.

  • Contribute to project plans and provide status updates or task estimates to project manager(s) leading warehouse development projects.

  • Apply knowledge and experience of past development projects, as well as software development lifecycle(s), to assist project manager in anticipating and managing project issues and risks, particularly those in the technology or application development domain.

  • Take ownership role of assigned project issues and coordinate through to resolution.

  • Communicate proactively and frequently with all project team members throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Mentor less experienced development team members on application development best practices with SQL Server 2000 and/or 2005, or data modeling/warehouse architecture design concepts.

  • Participate in code walk-throughs and recommend code changes, as needed, to achieve compliance with development standards.

  • Use coding and application design practices which maximize reusability and smooth run-time operations in the production warehouse.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
  • Minimum of seven years related experience as an IT project team member including previous project leadership experience.
  • Proven project management skills to manage projects from inception to implementation.
  • In-depth knowledge and ability to apply project development methodologies, reporting techniques, and measurement techniques.
  • Knowledge of Project Management best practices and tools.
  • Extensive experience in overseeing the design, development and delivery of complex, Business Intelligence Solutions.
  • Excellent background using various Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing tools and technology.
  • A solid knowledge of the system development life cycle, and system and application program development technological alternatives.
  • Working knowledge of adopted best practices and methodology.
  • Proven knowledge of client area's functions and systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Ability to develop and foster working relationships with the team, clients, peers and cross functional management.

Software Developer

This individual contributor will be the data warehouse developer and solution architect for a wide variety of business intelligence and operational data warehouse projects, within an information management team responsible for supporting a data warehouse.

  • 7+ years of experience as a Data Warehouse Application Developer, working on both the database backend and information delivery aspects of the warehouse.
  • Substantial experience in developing both warehouse ETL and OLAP application code.
  • Primary development experience in MS SQL Server (2000 and/or 2005) is required; additional development experience in Oracle data warehouse development is very helpful.
  • Substantial experience working on database design aspects of data warehouse applications.
  • Knowledge of transaction system database and data modeling design approaches (entity-relationship diagrams, normalization) as well as business intelligence design approaches (star schema, denormalization).
  • Demonstrated experience in developing data architectures and ETL application architectures related to warehouse data sourcing.
  • Expert knowledge of data warehouse architectural concepts along with warehouse production support experience.
  • Development experience should include 'quasi-DBA' support functions such as native DDL or DCL scripting experience, or script generation through a data modeling or database administration tool.
  • Experience developing and maintaining data models using either ER-Studio or ERwin is preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of SQL, Transact-SQL, DTS/SSIS, Analysis Services and proven development experience using the MS SQL Server 2000/2005 technology base.
  • Solid experience in analyzing query performance issues and modifying data structures or application code to remedy performance problems.
  • Excellent ability to interpret business requirements and functional specs, and convert these to technical designs and database application code.
  • Significant experience working with data quality assurance issues in connection with warehouse data sourcing and/or information delivery development tasks.
  • Experience building ETL code which promotes and sustains warehouse data quality.
  • Proven experience in following various software development and project lifecycle methodologies.
  • Exceptional communications skills. Need to be able to communicate directly with business clients to confirm requirements and clarify business rules as they are converted into application code.
